Project Presentation

In early October of 2025 videographer Natasha Scully and visual artist and photographer Alejandro Lopez set sail on a project that couldn't find a more appropriate title than “We the People Photography Project”.  The spark for this project came from an art piece made by Hudson Valley’s artist Kathleen Anderson. The artwork, entitled  “Star Dance flagpole”, references indigenous Plains people’s Sun Dance ceremonies for spiritual renewal and community healing. Kathleen’s positive vision was then instrumental in the conception of this project. This photography project is intended to be a celebration of diversity and inclusion.  We are inviting families, couples, friends, and single  individuals of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, races, sexual orientations, abilities, and religious or non religious beliefs to participate in this  photography  project. Our aim is to create a contagious positive visual statement that celebrates diversity and inclusion.    From the moment this project started, it received the unconditional support of some active  participants and collaborators. The future of this project rests on this support, so we invite you to get involved!  

Acknowledgment
We would like to thank all of the participants that have set foot in the set in order to be photographed! The final version of the scenery, designed and painted by Alejandro Lopez. The center element os this set is an art piece created by artist Kathleen Anderson, under the title "Star Dance Flagpole". The artwork references traditional indigenous people's Sun Dance pole rituals symbolizing a connection between the Earth and the Divine. The ceremony foster community bonding providing renewal for the world at large.
